Tree plantation world record in India : 500,000 saplings in 24 hours !

Dhubri (Assam): In an exemplary and unprecedented initiation actions the troops of 21 JAT Regiment under Red Horns Division had endeavoured to make a Guinness World Record in tree plantation in which 300 persons had planted 447 874 saplings in a cycle of 24 hours on 12th June 2009 to 13th June 2009 at Shrigram Reserve Forest, Dhubri, Assam.

The world record attempt by the army unit commenced at 3 PM on 12th June, continued throughout night and finally culminated at 24 hours cycle by successfully planting 5 lac saplings by 300 soldiers of 21 JAT Regiment.

Preparations for this large scale plantation started about ten months ago with the efforts of acquiring land from forest authorities.

The required land was prepared by the soldiers of army achieving the desired aim of breaking the previous world record made by Forestry Division of Durango (Maxico) of planting 3,48,000 saplings. .
