Mexico: Protest against 20 percent gasoline price hike in Nezahualcoyotl

News Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, Mexico - 07 January 2017

Throughout Mexico, thousands of people took to the streets on January 7, 2017, like here in Nezahualcoyotl to protest against the 20 percent gasoline price hike that came into effect on January 1, 2017.

Inhabitants of the municipality of Nezahualcoyotl marched through the streets of the municipality located at East of the State of Mexico (where about 1.2 million people live) to demand that the government stop the increase in the price of fuel. The nonconformists took the toll booth, which connects with the state of Puebla, south of Mexico, and let the vehicles pass freely. The protest also occurred in 10 other states in Mexico.
