Pakistan: Heatwave drives crowds to shade in Islamabad

News Islamabad, Pakistan - 19 May 2016

As record-high temperatures continued to plague Pakistan on May 19, 2016, people in Islamabad sought shade in parks, while some filled their gas cans at public watering holes, where water has become scarce in the hot and dry weather. Islamabad hit 42 degrees Celsius on May 19 (108 Fahrenheit). Meanwhile, temperatures in the Sindh region set records in some areas; the city of Larkana hit 51 Celsius (124 Fahrenheit) on May 19.
