The London Olympics featured 26 sports, divided into 39 disciplines, which include archery, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, canoeing, cycling, diving, football, gymnastics, hockey, judo, rowing, sailing, shooting, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting and wrestling, among others. The number of sports is 20 for the Paralympic games.
This was London’s third time hosting the Olympic games. Prior to 2012, London hosted the Olympics in 1908 and 1948.
