A water battle is an old traditional way to great the New Year in Port Said in Egypt: People on the streets and from the windows of the houses nearby throw water and water bombs at everybody who is brave enough to come to the middle of the street. It started with lots of fun, but some people overdid it in throwing stones and even shooting from hand weapons. At least some cars were destroyed, but I don't have information whether people where injured.
