Contractors Association protest in Peshawar

World News Not vetted story Vetted story Peshawar, Pakistan - 22 May 2012

Members of the Contractors Association in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa protested from Peshawar Sadar to the house of the Chief Minister on May 22, 2012.

They expressed concern over what they see as delay tactics. The day before, Haij Ghulam Habib, the president of the CAKP, said that while contractors' demands in Punjab, Sindh and other provinces had been fulfilled, no developments had occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the way they should have.

They felt they had used all peaceful paths possible to have their demands fulfilled, so they decided to protest.
Demands include a withdrawal of 450 percent "unfair annual revenue fee" and increasing the tender rate from .3 to .5 percent.

The contractor leaders want immediate funds to clear dues of contractors without delay.
