Clang! Clang! Clang! Los Indignados cacerolada marks 15M movement's 1st birthday

World News Not vetted story Vetted story Madrid, Spain - 15 May 2012

Los Indignados celebrating their "15M" movement in Madrid, Spain, ended their four-day protest with a clang on Los Indignados' first birthday, May 15, 2012.

They banged away on pots, bottles, plates and pans as a part of their cacerolada (a protest where demonstrators make as much noise as possible on cooking utensils). Hundreds — if not thousands — of protestors gathered in the Puerta del Sol and turned up the volume on everything they did.

Los Indignados seemed to want to point out that they really never went away. Los Indignados used social media, such as Twitter, to make their presence heard in cyberspace as well. They Tweeted using the hashtags #clangclangclang and #15M. The 15M movement begun by Los Indignados (In English, literally, "the outraged" or, "the indignant ones") has gained popularity.

Los Indignados is made up of Spaniards who do not like the austerity measures that have been taken against them. They blame high unemployment rates on those measures taken out by the Spanish government and the European Union.
