Florida: Miami Beach a 'ghost town' ahead of Hurricane Irma

Weather , United States - 08 September 2017
Miami Beach was a virtual ghost town on September 8, 2017, as tourists and residents cleared out of the typically bustling seaside city ahead of Hurricane Irma. Entire streets were deserted, with storefronts and windows boarded up with plywood, while some residents made last-minute preparations for the potentially catastrophic storm. The worst of Irma's winds and storm surge are projected to be near Marathon and Key Largo, but meteorologists say Miami and heavily populated southeastern Florida will still be on the strongest side of the storm.
