Mzee Maruge Kimani gets baptized at the age of 90.
Mzee Maruge Kimani got baptized at the age of 90 years at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Kariobangi.
He was a member of the Mau Mau guerilla army.
He was involved in the
nairobi
liberation struggle of the Kenya from the British colonialist in the 50s.
He made headlines after deciding to go back to school in the year 2004 at the age of 85 years old.
He enrolled at a primary school in rift valley province where he schooled up to Class five but his education was disrupted by the post election violence that rocked Kenya in 2007 after a disputed general election.
He has been living in Nairobi in an old people’s home. Recently he was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Today he was baptized and given the name Stephen.
Members of his family and some of his classmates who are as young as 12 years accompanied him.
They escorted him out of the church as he was pushed in his wheelchair to the old people’s home where he currently lives
