The Emirates Air Line opened on June 28, 2012. According to an article on the BBC website, the Emirates Air Line links the O2 Arena in Greenwich to the ExCel exhibition centre, located at the Royal Docks in East London. Transportation between the two sites will take approximately ten minutes. The project cost an estimated £60 million.
The cable car system has the capacity to carry up to 2,500 people per hour. Emirates airline will sponsor the cable car for the next ten years.
The cash fare for the cable car system is £4.30. The Emirates Air Line will be open during the week from 7:00 to 21:00. On Saturdays, the cable car system will be open until 22:00, while on Sunday, rides will begin at 9:00 in the morning as opposed to 7:00.
