A disco-themed fireworks show took place at the Eiffel Tower on July 14, 2012, to celebrate Bastille Day. Jean-Eric Ougier designed the show, for the third time.

DJ's Ludolab and Dag Fox prepared a mixture of about thirty disco songs for the evening.

The disco ball was made up of about 1200 mirrors and was designed by Michel de Broin.

Bastille Day celebrations took place throughout Paris, including the traditional military parade on the Champs-Elysées. Newly-elected French President François Hollande attended the parade briefly. In addition the Marseillaise played throughout the streets of the French capital. Parachutists added red, white, and blue to the Parisian skies.

Bastille Day marks the day when angry Paris residents raided and destroyed the Bastille prison, sparking the start to the French Revolution in 1789.
