More than one million rain-soaked people watched the Queen's Diamond Jubilee pageant weave its way along the Thames on June 3, 2012.
The Diamond Jubilee pageant consisted of 1 000 boats. Our contributor writes that "the Queen traveled at the heart of [a] flotilla of tugs, steamers, pleasure cruisers, [and] dragon boats."
According to an article in the New Zealand Herald, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee pageant was considered the highlight of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, which mark the Queen's 60-year reign.
The queen traveled on the Spirit of Chartwell, accompanied by her husband Prince Philip, her son Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, her grandsons Prince Harry and Prince William and her granddaughter-in-law Catherine Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William's spouse.
As the 1,000-boat procession traveled along the Thames, the queen smiled and waved to the crowd. The pageant set a record for the world's largest river pageant.
