Pharmacies closed in Greece due to 24 hour strike

News , Greece - 23 May 2012

Pharmacies in Greece shut their doors all day Wednesday, May 23, 2012, so that owners could make a point about social security funds that have yet to be settled. Pharmacists are also warned that medications are already in short supply — and social security still hasn't paid the bills.

The Greek pharmacists have of one accord decided to no longer allow customers to buy medication on credit until the National Organization for Healthcare Provision (EOPYY), Greece's number one health care provider, fixes its prescription debt of €250 million issued in March 2012.
