Olympic stadium hosts technical rehearsal for opening ceremony

OIympic stadium held a test run for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on July 23, 2012. 

According to an article in the Kilburn Times, an estimated £27 million has been invested for the opening ceremony, which will take place Friday, July 27, 2012. Limited details have been released about the opening ceremony. Danny Boyle, the organizer for the opening ceremony, encouraged viewers to "save the surprise." 

The official website for London 2012 states that the Opening Ceremony is an opportunity for the host country to display its culture. The Ceremony will begin with the 'sound of the largest harmonically tuned bell in Europe.'

The stadium will then be turned into the British countryside, for the first scene of the ceremony, which will feature farmyard animals. The scene is titled as 'Green and Pleasant.' 

Jacques Rogge, President of the IOC, will receive Her Majesty the Queen. The opening ceremony will also feature speeches, a parade of athletes, the Olympic anthem and flag, speeches, oaths, and will finish with the placing of the Olympic Flame in the Stadium. 

15,000 people are expected to participate in the London 2012 Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and an estimated four billion people will be watching the games.
