Soldiers gathered in Njimegen, Netherlands on July 16, 2012, to prepare for the annual "Four Day March," known in Dutch as "Vierdaagse." The "Four Day March "is also known as the "Walk of the World."
According to the event's official website, over 700 volunteers prepare the "Four Day March," scheduled to begin on July 17, 2012 and end on July 20, 2012. March participants typically walk 30, 40 or 50 km each day. The event was originally designed for members of the military, but has since consisted primarily of civilians.
Marchers will walk through the towns of Elst, Wijchen, Groesbeek, and Cujik. Festivities will also take place to celebrate the marchers.

"5600 Soldiers from 23 countries arriving at the temporary military base “Heumensoord”, 2 miles south of Nijmegen to take part in the biggest walking event in the world: “the Walk of the World” ( vierdaagse) in Nijmegen, Holland. In total 44.000 people marching for four days from tomorrow on through the Dutch countryside around Netherlands oldest city of Nijmegen."
