World's highest altitude 'Tenzing Hillary Everest marathon’ held in Nepal

Marathoners took part in the "Tenzing Hillary Everest" marathon in the Everest region of Nepal on May 29, 2012. The marathon is the world's highest altitude marathon at 5,364 meters above sea level and started at Everest's base camp.

Over 160 national and international runners successfully completed the marathon.

Marathon runners compete during the 'Tenzing Hillary Everest marathon at Gorakshep near Everest Base Camp (5,364 meters above sea level) in Everest region, Nepal, May 29, 2012, Nepal. The Everest Marathon which starts from Everest base camp (5,364m) to Namch Bazar (3,440m) is the world's highest altitude marathon. Nepal's Phurba Tamang won the 10th edition marathon completing 42.195 Kilometer distance in 3 hours 41 minutes 33 second.
