Atletico Madrid trumped Athetic Bilbao 3-0 for the Europa League trophy in Bucharest, Romania, as fans watched in person and by a live stream on May 9, 2012.

Atletico rose to the occasion to beat a talented Athletic Bilbao. Bilbao had no answer for Madrid's Falco, who was a continual thorn in their side.

Many of the two red-and-white Spanish team's football fans came in the days before the Europa League Final and partied in fan zones in Constitution Square and throughout Bucharest. Excitement was especially high as it was the first all-Spanish final since Sevilla and Espanyol competed at Hampden in 2007. It was also the first European final to be played in Romania.

Afterward, thousands of football fans and Bucharest locals celebrated (or perhaps, as in the case of Athletic Bilbao, mourned) and tried to have a good time in Bucharest's Old City. The Old City, a lively area of Bucharest, was full of sports fans, live music, good drinks, good food and dancing.
