The bridge to the Grand Harbour breakwater was put in place on Wednesday October 5, 2011 after the first attempt last Sunday had to be aborted because of sea swell.
The 190-ton structure was lifted from the ship which brought it to Malta from Spain. The original bridge was damaged during the war when Italian E-boats attempted the breach the breakwater.
The new bridge is very similar to the original Victorian bridge which was completed in 1903 and was damaged during the war.
