Occupy London protesters start to pack-up and leave the camp

Politics London, Great Britain - 23 February 2012

Anti-capitalism activists lost a legal fight on Wednesday to stay camped outside St Paul's Cathedral in London after three judges rejected their appeal application, heralding the end of their four-month protest.
The Occupy London camp received bad news on Wednesday when the High Court refused to hear their appeal against eviction. Now it is only a matter of time before they could be forcibly evicted.

The remaining occupants say they are ready for that eventuality. Protestor Gbola Ibukun-Oluwa says, "We plan to leave. We'll leave peacefully. But we'll wait until the bailiffs get here before we do. We plan to be here to make sure that we still have our voices heard."

Occupiers say their legal struggles will not end here. They intend to take their case to the European Court of Human Rights to give the court, they say, the opportunity to consider the state of public protest law in Britain. In the meantime, it's time to pack up and leave.
