Tunisia: Protest against the economic reconciliation bill in Tunis

News Tunis, Tunisia - 13 May 2017

Following the call of the movement 'Manich Msameh' ('I don't forgive' in Arabic), hundreds of people from opposition parties and from the civilian society gathered on Habib Bourguiba avenue in Tunis on May 13, 2017, to protest against the economic reconciliation bill put forward by Tunisia’s president Beji Caid Essebsi.

The economic reconciliation bill, allows an amnesty of Ben Ali-era officials being prosecuted for corruption, in exchange for paying a fine and reimbursing any illicit gains.
