Mexico: Drug kingpin 'El Chapo' recaptured in SinaloaNews Sinaloa de Leyva, Mexico - 08 January 2016
Nearly six months after his escape from Mexico's Altiplano prison in July 2015 — his second escape in 14 years — Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was arrested in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico on January 8, 2015. Photos show his presentation to the media in Mexico City shortly after his arrest.
El Chapo, reputed as one of the world's most active and influential drug traffickers, was subsequently returned to Altiplano, from whence he had reportedly escaped through a hole in the shower, which granted him access to a tunnel that was secretly engineered and constructed specifically for him.
But El Chapo now faces numerous drug charges in the US.
