Relatives of victims and their supporters rallied at court in Buenos Aires, Argentina on December 29, 2015 as a trial was underway for dozens of defendants in the infamous train crash at Once Station. The accident, which left 51 people dead, occurred on February 22, 2012.
Among the reported 28 defendants were former transport secretaries Ricardo Jaime and Juan Pablo Schiavi; the train's operator, Marcos Cordoba; and brothers Mario and Sergio Cirigliano, a pair of powerful businessmen suspected of having kept government subsidies that were to be spent on train maintenance.
The prosecutor recommended sentences of 11 years for Jaime; 10 years and 10 months for Schiavi; and 10 year and 11 months for the Cirigliano brothers.
