European Researchers’ Night 2012 at BucharestNews Bucharest, Romania - 28 September 2012
According with the official site http://www.noapteacercetatorilor.eu/?lang=en:
“Researchers’ Night is a project initiated by the European Union taking place in all countries and affiliates on the fourth Friday of September. Its main objective is to bring together researchers and the public at large allowing interaction with science and scientists in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
One of the main messages of Researchers’ Night is that researchers are “ordinary people with an extraordinary job”, contributing to the community development with their day to day activity.
The event is intended to change the current perceptions of researchers portraying them as active members of the society and, at the same time, provide a stimulus for young people to consider a scientific career.
In Romania, the event has been organized since 2006, our team having been involved in the activities of the 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 editions in the cities of Bucharest, Brasov, Constanta, Sibiu, Medias, Targoviste, Slatina, Tulcea, Covasna, Ploiesti, Sinaia. In 2012 the Romanian cities that host the event are: Bucharest, Tulcea, Sinaia, Targu Mures, Piatra Neamt and Suceava.
For one evening, the public will interact with people passionate about science and innovation, finding out more about their achievements and the stories behind their research work, in the desire to convey information to those interested in this field.
The activities will allow direct interaction with researchers, presentation of scientific experiments in a simple and fun way, involving young participants in preparatory activities to encourage further contact with researchers and their areas of expertise.“
