EU observers make mixed comments on parliamentary election in Algeria

News Algiers, Algeria - 05 August 2012

José Ignacio Salafranca, head of the European Union (EU) observation mission, sided by Silvia de Félix, international consultant on Media and Election, and Jarek Domanski, deputy head of mission, gave a press conference in Algiers on August 5, 2012, to release a report on the Algerian parliamentary election.

The mission made mixed comments, noting some "weaknesses" and "shortcomings" in the process observed by the 150 European observers sent in 48 departments of the country during the election.
