Peacocks are one of the beautiful wonders of the world , declared some 55 yrs. Back as our National bird by Govt . But no protection and safety measures were considered otherwise , long back National Bird sanctuaries would have been declared You will be surprise to know that from lacs the present figure of peacock has come down to few thousands all over India in last 10 yrs. The main reason of felling of or cutting (constructions of house , townships )of thousands of old trees like NEEAM , PEPAL, JAMUN , IMLI where peacock used to get shelter.
Secondly chemical quoted seeds , non availability of water & food less rains change in environment , pollution magnetic radiations , mobile tower were the main reason peacock died. Making a law of offence for hunting can help to protect the peacock being killed

8 conservationist students awarded
Eight students of the of DALY COLLEGE were honored for their exemplary contribution in turning the school campus as a largest habitat of peacock in Madhya Pradesh by NGO , Karuna International
118 acre campus is home to over 400 peacocks which are breeding without any treat
The students Pragun , Aira Bhatnagar ,Advaya Goel, Vanshraj Jain , Jia Kasliwal, Mehak Kulkarni & Meher Kulkarni were awarded with “NATIONAL BIRD ANGEL AWARD”
A 15 Member team of NGO representative and senior forest officers had made this assessment. The initiative adopted by the school engendered a bonding between peacock & school children. The bond is so closed that peacock can be seen eating out of the hands of children.
On this occasion Principle of Daly College Mr. Sumer Singh , Dr.Sudhir Khetawat , Dr. Daulat Jain ( Sr member of Animal welfare Chennai & Mr. Kailashmal Duggad (National President of Karuna International Chennai ) were present.
