Emirates Air Line cable car launched in London

News London, United Kingdom - 28 June 2012

London Mayor Boris Johnson and Tim Clark, president of Emirates Air Line, launched the Emirates Air Line, the first urban cable car system of its kind at the Emirates Greenwich Peninsula terminal on June 28, 2012.

The cable car links the North Greenwich Arena to the ExCel Center, the sites of numerous Olympic and Paralympic events.

"The Emirates Air Line goldolas, will provide an alternative route to crossing the river Thames within 5 minutes, from terminals at Emirates Greenwich Peninsula and Emirates Royal Docks.

The Sixty-metre-high Emirates Air Line will be able to carry up to 2,500 people an hour across the river in each direction, something that would otherwise take 30 buses an hour to achieve.

Summer opening Times will be, Monday - Friday: 07:00 - 21:00, Saturday: 08:00 - 21:00, Sunday: 09:00 - 21:00 and untill 20:00 during winter. With prices at £3.20 for a single oyster trip and £4.30 for cash single ticket."
