Dalai Lama leaves Westminster Abbey, after prayer and reflection service

News London, United Kingdom - 20 June 2012

The Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, leaves Westminster Abbey in central London after helping to lead a prayer and reflection service on June 20, 2012.

According to an article in "The Independent," representatives from different religious groups and denominations attended the service. Anglican, Roman Catholic, Jewish, Sikh and Hindu leaders were among the religious representatives. During the service, the Dalai Lama asked that individuals work for the good of humanity and the environment.

The service included readings from the head priest of the London Buddhist Vihara, the Venerable Bogoda Seelawimala, Lord Singh of Wimbledon, a representative for the Sikh community, and Anil Bhanot, a representative of the Hindu community.

The Dalai Lama is currently on a tour of the United Kingdom to promote non-violence, dialogue, and universal responsibility.

Our contributor writes:

"The Dalai Lama was expected to meet with Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, as the spiritual leader continued an eight-day visit to Britain. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is visiting the UK from 16-23 June."
