Golden Dawn Party celebrates election resultsNews Θεσσαλονίκη, Greece - 17 June 2012
"Supporters of the Greek extreme-right ultra nationalist party Golden Dawn (Chryssi Avghi), sing the National anthem out of the Golden Dawn's office in Thessaloniki on June 17, 2012, writes our contributor. Greece's Golden Dawn was re-elected to parliament in elections."
According to an article in the Washington Post, the Golden Dawn Party won 18 seats in Parliament on Sunday's legislative elections. The elections were the country's second attempt to establish a new government, following the indecisive results of the May 6 elections, in which no party won a sufficient majority.
Golden Dawn campaigned on the premise of ridding the country of illegal immigrants. The party has been deemed by its opponents as a "neo-Nazi" organization and is against the bailout.
New Democracy, Greece's conservative party, won the majority of votes on Sunday's elections and is now in the process of forming a coalition government with the center-left Pasok party.
