Protest against opposition presidential candidate Enrique Peña Nieto in Mexico

In an unprecedented event in the Spanish-speaking country, citizens organized through social networking a protest against one of the four candidates for president of Mexico on May 19, 2012.

Thousands of people took to the streets the morning of May 19 in Mexico City to show their dissatisfaction with the presidential candidate Enrique Peña Nieto who represents the alliance of political parties called "Compromiso por México" made ​​by the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), one of the oldest in Mexico, and the Partido Verde Ecologista de México (PVEM).

The call took place through social networks, people gathered in the Zocalo of Mexico City, the largest Civic Plaza's of the country. At exactly 12:30 pm this day the group of people walked towards the roundabout Independence in Reforma Avenue, one of the most representative monuments of the city.

The demonstrators expressed their dissatisfaction with the participation of Enrique Peña Nieto (EPN) to the election, accusing him to be favored by the mass media and of having been corrupt and repressive as the governor of Mexico State.
