Cargo TK Bremen runs aground off French Atlantic coast

Environment Erdeven, France - 18 December 2011

A cargo ship on the French Atlantic coast became trapped in high winds, causing some of its 220 tons of fuel to leak towards a local beach.

The TK Bremen ran aground 100 meters from Erdeven beach in southern Brittany, northwest France, close to a giant nature reserve of dunes and wildlife as seen on the pictures taken December 18, 2011.

The 19-member crew of the cargo ship was evacuated by helicopter, according to the local prefecture.
