Monsoon season has officially begun in Thailand.

According to an article in the Bangkok Post, Thailand's Meteorological Department recently issued a warning for people to prepare for heavy rainfall in the days to come.

At the moment, the north and northeast as well as the southwest regions are both experiencing monsoon conditions. The Gulf of Thailand as well as the coastal area near the Andaman Sea are particularly vulnerable to monsoon weather. The monsoon rains are currently spreading.

The Meteorological Department also warned of the possibility of flash floods in Chiang Rai, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Phi chit, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Si Sa Ket, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
