Surabaya Sheraton Hotel and Towers recognized as an Eco Hotel in Indonesia

Environment Surabaya, Indonesia - 05 April 2012

The Surabaya Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Indonesia was an Eco Hotel certified by TÜV Rheinland Indonesia on April 5, 2012. The hotel has applied their eco-hotel and resort management system which helps them stay green in areas like purchasing hazardous substances, water and waste management, energy management and safety.

The member hotel of Starwood also participated in the WWF sponsored Earth Hour on March 31, 2012. During the Earth Hour, Surabaya Sheraton Hotel and Towers participated by turning off their lights.

Sheraton Surabaya Hotel and Towers has been certified as an Eco Hotel by TUV Rheinland Indonesia, in recognition of its commitment to reduce the environmental impact of business activities and to continually improve on sustainability practices.

Sheraton Surabaya Hotel and Towers has established and applies an Eco Hotel and Resort Management System which consist of eight elements starting from Organizational & Objectives, Purchasing & Hazardous Substances, Water Management, Waste Management, Office supplies, External facilities and integration in the surrounding, Energy Management and Safety.

As part of Starwood, Sheraton Surabaya Hotel & Towers understands its role and responsibility to contribute towards environmental sustainability. ‘Having certified as Eco Hotel, will give us more value to our guests, associates and community with the increasing demand of environmental awareness’, said Mr Hratch Khatchanian, General Manager of Sheraton Surabaya Hotel & Towers.
