Occupy protesters planned to occupy Trafalgar Square in the wake of education protests. Occupy Trafalgar, as the intervention had been codenamed, was swiftly terminated by police on November 9, 2011. Protesters were arrested and their tents removed under Section 12 for an illegal demonstration and occupation of the grounds of the Square. The protests continued as the student march joined the Occupy camp at St Paul's Cathedral. Protesters were joined by Rage Against The Machine's guitarist Tom Morello and singer Billy Bragg who performed in the camp.
