Occupy Wall Street clean Zuccotti Park to avoid evacuation

Politics New York, United States - 13 October 2011

The Occupy Wall Street movement entered its 27th day with concerns about whether the protesters will be evacuated from Zuccotti Park by the NYPD "to clean the park" (i.e. Zuccotti) following Mayor Bloomberg's orders on October 13, 2011.

Our user reports:

"The pressing issue at the Ocupy Wall Street protests was that Mayor Bloomberg announced the NYPD would be sent in to clear the Park in order to clean Zuccotti Park.

OWS protesters began a campaign to counter the FALSE concerns raised that the park was unsanitary by staging an all day cleanup. One of the photos shows police on Horseback standing in front of the NY Stock Exchange. Other photos show the cleaning mobilization of the OWS movement, the central cleaning table (with sign) and activity.

The police did raid the park on Thursday night to dismantle a Sukkot tent on the grounds at Camp Anonymous with no major incident (The protesters took the tent down). At the General Assembly, the OWS people picked a color for the movement, a combination of Red, White and Blue mixed together.

Armbands were made. Mayor Bloomberg accepted an award at Cipriani's on Wall Street that night and protesters marched/stood outside to communicate their concerns about what they believed was an attempt to evict them from the park."
