The celebration of Arab cuisine was organized on June 9, 2012 by the Bulgarian State Cultural Institute under the patronage of Minister Nickolay Mladenov, and held with the support of the embassies of Iraq, Yemen, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan and the Sultanate of Oman.
The celebration was attended by more 200 guests.“Today we have a great opportunity to see what often eludes us – the wealth that is the Arab world in all its forms – cultural, religious and culinary,” Foreign Minister Nickolay Mladenov said at the opening of the Festival of Arab Cuisine in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs garden. The Bulgarian people and the peoples of the countries of the Arab region had always had close and warm relations, he said.
And when, a little more than a year ago, the Arab awakening had begun, Bulgaria’s people had once again stood with their friends in the Arab world, Minister Mladenov said.
rIt does not matter whether we live in Europe, Asia or Africa, we have many things in common and should learn to take joy in that, to understand and to develop them, he said.
“Please accept the greetings and love from all the Arab capitals,” said the doyen of the Arab ambassadors to Bulgaria, His Excellency Ahmed Al Mathbouh. He expressed his personal thanks to Minister Mladenov and the Foreign Ministry for the initiative, which the doors of the hospitable Arab home opened to display its rich cuisine.
