Royal family attends jubilee lunch at Westminster Hall

Culture Not vetted story Vetted story , Great Britain - 05 June 2012

The Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall attended a celebratory jubilee lunch on June 5, 2012, one of the final events for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, marking the Her Majesty's 60th year on the throne.

Earlier that day, the Queen attended a Thanksgiving ceremony at St. Paul's Cathedral. Following the luncheon, the Queen was taken by carriage from Parliament to Buckingham Palace, along with other members of the royal family. Upon arriving to Buckingham Palace, the royal family watched a fly-past, performed by the Royal Air Force Red Arrows, using aircraft from the Second World War. The fly-past marked the end of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee began on June 2, 2012 and included numerous events that attracted thousands, including the Thames River Pageant and the Diamond Jubilee Concert.

Queen Elizabeth II is only the second monarch in English history to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee.
