English actor-director Tim Roth presented the jury for Cannes sidebar Un Certain Regard on May 19, 2012. It screened 20 films directed by 26 directors from 17 different countries, four of which were first-timers eligible for the Camera d'Or.
The jury led by Roth and included actress Leïla Bekhti, Sylvie Pras (head of cinema, Centre Pompidou Paris, artistic director at La Rochelle Festival), the French director-producer Tonie Marshall, and Argentinian movie critic Luciano Monteagudo.
“This was an extraordinarily strong group of films and our deliberations were passionate," stated Roth. "The filmmakers never once failed us! Incredible!”
Accompanied by the journey of artists, journalists and festival directors, Roth awarded the Prix Un Certain Regard along with other special awards on Saturday May, 26th, 2012, the day before the Festival draws to a close.
