Moscow celebrates DreamFlash, the holiday of hugs and soap bubbles

Culture Moscow, Russian Federation - 22 April 2012

The sixth yearly springtime soap bubbles parade, DreamFlash, took place in Moscow on April 22, 2012. The parade began on Stary Arbat Street and clogged traffic in the middle of Moscow on Novy Arbat Street. The parade had no political significance; it was simply a fun, youth theatrical parade with a kind of carnival theme.

Bubbles were blown everywhere and drums were beat as people cheered and danced. Captain Jack Sparrow, Ronald McDonald, Pacman, Alice the Fox and Basilio the Cat were also in attendance.

People participated in games and some watched others perform tricks. Many were dressed in wild costumes or quirky clothes. Some young people carried signs that read “free hugs” and others even gave free kisses. The DreamFlash website reminded the parade-goers, “Do not forget: bright clothes! A lot of bubbles! Good mood! Invite your friends!” They didn’t forget, that’s for sure.

Our contributor writes:

Every spring, since, several thousands of people come to Old Arbat Street in original costumes to sing, hug each other and blow soap bubbles. 100 000 people came on the soap bubble parade also known as Dream Flash.
