Parking Meter causes outrage Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham
"Shoppers are getting outraged by the installation of new parking meters at the Iceland shop at Maney Corner in Sutton Coldfield (West Midlands, Birmingham)," our contributor says.
"Since their installation about 3 weeks ago, customers going into the store are forced to have the correct change, find a parking space and type in their vehicle registration number.
The parking lot also has a very steep incline which makes it more difficult for shoppers to walk from the car to the machine, then after fathoming it out, they have to go back to the car, put the ticket inside, then walk back past the machine again, up another steep incline before even starting to shop - collecting a trolley requires another £1 coin and pushing it uphill," our witness explains.
"Most of the people I met on my visit where confused by the new multi button machine. Some, then, realise there is a large keyboard area asking for your car registration number, and have to walk back and glance again for their to make sure. Is this 'Big Brother'? Where is this data stored about what time you shopped there, and is this legal?", our contributor asks.
