Japan: Fish markets become a victim in the nuclear crisis

Around the world Tokyo, Japan - 19 April 2011

The accidental release of of radioactive matter into the air and ocean have now largely affected a new portion of the Japanese economy: fish markets. (Images from April 19th, 2011)

In Japan, where fish is a main diet staple, it is unusual to have such a crisis relating to seafood. You are able to find shelves of fish stacked to the brim even at the end of the day. Discounts of up to 50% have been applied to the fish, but it makes no difference. People are still wary of products coming from the sea.
