Newzulu, Inc. announced it has acquired Citizenside (www.citizenside.com), the French citizen journalism publisher and news wire service, established by Agence France-Presse (AFP) in 2007. Citizenside is a pioneer of citizen journalism publishing and agency sales, with over 100,000 citizen journalist contributors from over 150 countries reporting in English and French. Citizenside works with leading media partners including Le Monde, Le Parisien, Metro France, BFMTV, Havas Media, France Radio, RMC, RTL and Archant Media. Newzulu announced a significant investment to expand current management and technical operations of Citizenside’s Paris Bureau, to establish news bureaus in a number of international territories and to publish in additional languages. Citizenside will expand its current operations in France and seek further growth in European markets. Newzulu (www.newzulu.com) will soon launch as the English language edition in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, NZ and other territories.

Newzulu, Inc. announced the appointment of Mr. Xavier Gouyou-Beauchamps as President and Mr. Matthieu Stefani as interim Managing Director of its’ French subsidiary, Newzulu SAS. Mr. Gouyou-Beauchamps was previously President of France Television, President of Broadcasting in France, President of Sofirad (Radio Monte Carlo and Radio South), and President of Sofipost. Mr. Goyou-Beauchamps was Head of the Elysee Palace Press Service under Giscard d'Estaing, Advisor to the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic of France and Prefect of the Ardèche. Mr. Matthieu Stefani is a serial entrepreneur who was a co-Founder of Citizenside in 2005, Stobacco.com in 2007, www.buump.com & www.ironCards.com in 2011 and www.lekiffeur.com in 2012. Stefani is the licensee for Morphsuits in France, Switzerland and Belgium and founded Stefani & Co in 2011, to develop Facebook and mobile applications. He was the first employee of French newspaper Metro.
Newzulu was founded by Matilda Media Group (“Matilda”), which had previously agreed to acquire the AFP shares in Citizenside. Newzulu proposes a strengthened partnership with AFP, which is the world’s oldest news agency, founded in 1835 and headquartered in Paris, with bureaus in 150 countries. In 2007, AFP announced its investment in Scooplive, a startup online news photo and video agency, which then became Citizenside. Matilda is a media investment house with offices in Los Angeles, New York, Paris and Sydney. Matilda invests in motion pictures; develops media transactions; and provides corporate advisory services. At Festival de Cannes in 2012 Matilda announced its Rightstrade initiative launched an online film and television market with Technicolor. Matilda Books is the group’s book publishing division.
