Citizenside Appoints New Editor-in-Chief Julien Robert and Philippe Checinski, directors and co-founders of Citizenside, today (01.03.11) named Philip Trippenbach as the company’s new Editor-in-Chief. Trippenbach joins Citizenside from the UK, where his recent work has included interactive journalism development for BBC Current Affairs. His work with Citizenside begins immediately, spread between Paris and London. Among other previous work, Trippenbach was the creative leader responsible for the design and launch of the BBC’s Britain’s Real Class System (http://bbc.co.uk/labuk/experiments/class). This project was the first purely interactive journalism project by BBC Current Affairs, and is now the largest study of social class ever conducted. Previously, Trippenbach developed interactive journalism projects for clients including the BBC, Channel 4, Six to Start and the UK government. Philippe Checinski said “Philip’s editorial credentials are rock-solid, with a long history as a journalist at the BBC and the CBC. His editorial judgement and innovating instincts together make a powerful combination, and we’re proud to have him on board.” Julien Robert said: "Philip’s knowledge of game dynamics and user engagement give him a unique approach to interactive journalism and make him the perfect person for this post. We look forward to working with him as we build on Citizenside’s success in France." Trippenbach added: "I am delighted to be joining a company as dynamic and full of potential as Citizenside. They’ve already developed a strong platform for citizen journalism and attracted a world-wide network of contributors. I look forward to extending the Citizenside network further, and expanding the company’s presence on the international market. “Citizenside is about to explode onto the international scene, and I’m proud to be a part of that expansion.” _______________________________________________ Previously, Trippenbach worked with BBC Current Affairs as producer and designer on a number of interactive journalism concepts, as well as television development and production. He started his career as a TV and radio reporter for the CBC, in Canada and the US. Citizenside (www.citizenside.com) was founded in 2006 and has established itself as a leader in citizen news production. It is now the fastest-growing citizen journalism network in the world, with thousands of contributors on five continents. (http://citizenside.com) Citizenside's goal is to create the world’s largest online community of amateur and independent reporters, where everyone can share their vision of the news by uploading photos and videos for fellow reporters to see. |
